The central library of Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad is called Dr. Raziuddin Siddiqui Memorial Library. Ever wonder who he was? Dr. Raziuddin Siddiqui was a Pakistani mathematician and scientist who made significant contributions to the field of mathematics and science in Pakistan. He was born in 1907 in the town of Moradabad, India, and later moved to Pakistan after the partition of India in 1947.

Dr. Siddiqui studied at the University of Allahabad and later earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Cambridge. He then joined the faculty at the University of Karachi and later at the University of Sindh, where he served as the head of the mathematics department.

Dr. Siddiqui’s research focused on algebraic structures, particularly on non-associative algebras and their applications in physics and other areas of mathematics. He also made contributions to the field of topology and helped establish it as a research area in Pakistan.
