Cultural travesty in our society

We are still living in an era of darkness despite knowing all the ciphers around us. Culture has a few elements one of them is a dress, which I would like to contemplate here. Many people acquiesced that we are living in the epoch of robotics and artificial intelligence. On contrary,we are yet to be civilized. Obviously, we are pushing premative ideas like honor, culture, patriarchal thoughts, objectification, and neither individualism nor democracy. Once Reinhold said that “man’s capacity for evil makes democracy necessary and man’s capacity for good makes democracy possible “.The incredible concept that we have made that culture is oriented to women nowadays at a large scale. It is worth mentioning that, still state is promoting stereotypes in the 21Ist century. The cold hard truth is that even legislation is made in the favor of men by alienating feminism without any further scrupulous thinking. In the last few decades, Iran has done many legislations pertaining to dress code against the consent of women. After the 1979 Islamic revolution, it was mandatory for women to wear Hijab and all women are required to wear loose-fitting clothes and a headscarf in a public. To add on, a woman should wear Hijab otherwise she would be detained for ten days to two months and imposed a fine of fifty thousand to 5 lacs . One of the tragedy is that, recently a 22-year-old woman named Mahsa Amini was murdered by morality police in Tehran. She had been arrested because she exposed her head publicly. Even more importantly, eyewitnesses claimed that police had repeatedly tortured her, eventually, she passed away. On the other hand, some fraudulent based evidences claimed that she was passed out due to heart attack. When the incident became public then women were too enraged and came up with violent protests across the country. It is a condemnable act that the Iranian morality police has done with innocent girl brutally. It is the age of space science and technology while Iran is deploying morality police only to control women either they wear dress properly or not.It is the cause Muslims are lacking in advancements by investing on absurdity still.

Indeed, culture has been specified to the proletariats of our society while bourgeois are enjoying it. Capitalists and intellectuals have exploited uncivilized minds vastly across the globe. Now, it becomes post-truth in our society that culture is the utmost sacred for us.An unfair burden has fallen on the women to protect culture while men are avoiding to adopt it . As we know, a few months ago in India (karnakata) a girl wants to wear a Hijab but the High court had banned on it to wear in schools as well as in colleges. As a result, innumerable protests had been done in India to some extent. Moreover, morality police has killed a 22-year-old girl on the basis of transgression. Hence, the repercussions extracted from both incidents are that there should be freedom of choice for women around the world.

Who is responsible for these kinds of incidents? What should be done to eradicate this conundrum?

The state is especially responsible for these acts. So, the state should make legislation on the basis of equity and equality while avoiding the concept of estrangement. Moreover, it should promote critical thinking, individualism, freedom of choice, pluralism, and awareness. Aristotle said that the character of the rulers determines the nature of the state; good rulers make a good state, and bad rulers, a bad state.

Is Hijab mandatory in Islam? If yes then why in our media, drama industry and sports platforms, universities, and colleges it doesn’t seem?

So, we should put aside a blend of religion and culture. This is the time to decode our sick mentality about cultural travesty which always entangles our minds.
