The Reason behind Russia’s invasion of Ukraine Sovereignty

Russia and Ukraine are two different nations simultaneously having their own sovereignty and internationally defined territory. Ukraine, on one hand, has nothing to go into a full-fledged war neither on territorial conflict nor on natural resources,  on the other hand Russia has no interest to go into long-term wars with it neighbors. But despite all these reasons, why is Russia insanely invading Ukraine? For the answer of this question let’s begin from the history.

After world war two the United States of America and Russia emerged as two superpowers. Although in world war two both states fought side by side together with axis powers and won the war. But after that they both started to get rival actions against each other.

This is the realist perspective that Human nature is selfish and it is always willing to dominate. Practically, the realist theory exercised by these states and the long-lasting Cold War is its aftermath. Both blocks started to spread their ideology around the world. The western block (US) was expanding capitalism and the Eastern bloc (USSR) was doing the same to spread communism.

The United States of America launched the Marshall plane through which it helped the broken countries and tied their strong alliance with them. As well, the US government established NATO. The purpose of this organization was to defend its member states when any outer power attacks on it. This organization was attractive enough to get more alliances from Europe and weakened the USSR. Most of the European countries tied themselves with NATO and power approximately shifted to the Western block. At the same time Russia formed the Warsaw pact. It had similar purposes as NATO.

Time passed and different proxy wars have been fought in different corners of the world. Weapons of mass destruction have been created by both blocks for deterrence purposes and some for immense usage.

After long decades of competition for the balance of power and for being the only Unipolar Soviet Union ultimately fell into internal conflict and further not been able to hold their allies. It was in the 1991 when Soviet Union disintegrated and more than seventeen states separated from it and Ukraine was one of them.

In short, after the incident of 1991 Ukraine was a self-determined state and never been part of any block. But Russia after some decades in 2014 invaded a part of Ukraine which is Crimea and annexed it.

Now Ukraine has shown its willingness to be a part of NATO which is the biggest threat for Russia and strength for the US. Here Russia never wanted to let its neighbor country to be an ally of its oldest enemy.

This is the reason behind the invasion of Russia on Ukraine. This war only ends when NATO doesn’t interfere in the very near of Russia’s boundary. History is a pure witness about the great games of the US, the only reason behind every conflict at any corner of the world.
